AGARWOOD EXPERTISE TEAM (AgET)

Agarwood (gaharu) is an important new commodity in Malaysia. The growing of Aquilaria (karas) on a large scale has started actively in 2007 and over 7,000 hectares of karas cultivation has manifested throughout Malaysia. Agarwood has been identified as one of the main commodities in the new Agriculture National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs). Such goal requires in-depth research and innovation to turn the agarwood industry from traditional practices into modern technologies. The Agarwood Expertise Team (AgET) is created to ensure the continuity of agarwood Research, Innovation and Commercialization at the Faculty of Forestry (FORR), UPM. FORR has been at the forefront of agarwood research and technology for the past 10 years. With the establishment of AgET, our expertise will be extended to various government agencies and the public. AgET provides a platform for information exchange and acts as a referral center for those related to agarwood industry.
