Community Service Program


Kajang 25 Nov 2016 - Faculty of Forestry Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has conducted a community service program called "Planting Is Fun" at the Q-dees Hillpark Kindergarten Kajang. The program has been organized by 12 students from the Faculty of Forestry under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozi Mohamed. It aims to foster a love of trees among kindergarten children from the age 4 to 6 years. They were briefed on how to plant trees properly and they also cultivate ten types of trees in the nursery. Various types of trees were planted such as merawan siput jantan, karas, jambu madu, meranti daun besar, lengkuas padi, and gandarlusa. Besides, students from UPM also performed a short presentation to convey the awareness of the importance of trees to the environment and animals. The activities carried out were successfully attracted the attention of the children. According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozi, children should be instilled the spirit of love for nature since childhood to create a society that emphasizes well-being and sustain nature.
