The theme "Sustainability in Adventure and Ecotourism: Bridging Theory and Practice" highlights the critical need to integrate sustainable principles into the rapidly growing sectors of adventure and ecotourism. The increasing demand for adventure activities and ecotourism products, particularly post-COVID-19, should not undermine the quality of tourism opportunities and offerings. A holistic approach that fully considers the current and future economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism activities—while addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host communities is essential.
This approach requires key stakeholders to think beyond conventional methods, anticipating future challenges and developing appropriate measures for appropriate intervention. A strong connection between theory and practice, along with actionable solutions that minimize impacts on natural resources, promote conservation, support local communities, and enhance opportunities for learning and peak recreational experiences, is crucial.
This year's theme calls for collaboration between academics, industry practitioners, and policymakers to create responsible ecotourism models that balance the thrill of adventure with ecological preservation and socio-economic benefits for host regions. The aim is to ensure that today's tourism practices do not compromise the ability of future generations to enjoy these natural spaces.
