Introduction

The Department of Environmental Management (JPAS) was officially established on 1 March 2025 as a result of the restructuring of the Department of Environment which was approved in the 740th Senate Meeting on 24 February 2025. This establishment is a strategic step to strengthen the field of environmental management and planning to be more in line with current challenges, especially in the context of sustainable development, climate change, and natural resource conservation.

Through the establishment of this department, the functions of education, research, and community service can be mobilized in a more organized and focused manner, thus producing experts who are able to contribute to the country's sustainability policies and practices. The need to establish JPAS is driven by efforts to strengthen governance and innovation in the field of environmental management, in addition to strengthening cooperation with government agencies, industry and the community. This department also plays a role in providing human resources with expertise in the field of the environment, in addition to being a platform for the integration of knowledge, policies and field practices to ensure that the country's development is in line with the sustainability agenda.

Bachelor of Environmental Management with Honours (BPASdK)program  has received international recognition through accreditation by The Community for Environmental Disciplines in Higher Education (CEDHE) starting from 2019 until 31 August 2028.
