TUANKU PRO CHANCELLOR AWARDED EXCELLENCE AWARDS TO 18 UPM ACADEMIC STAFF

SERDANG, July 28 - Tuanku Pro Chancellor DYTM Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj was pleased to present awards to 18 Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) academic staff and two non-academic staff who have shown excellence in teaching, research and innovation services, consultancy, professional services, and student development for the benefits of the university and the country.

All 20 award recipients received the Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Awards at the Majlis Gemilang Akademia Putra 2021 (MGAP) held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM, here today.

Awards presented were the Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Awards for the Teaching Category, Research and Innovation Category, Professional Services Category, Outstanding Consultant Category, Student Development Category and Akademia Putra Special Award.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, YH. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said UPM remains committed to producing highly skilful human capital and ensuring the active role and involvement of alumni for the continued excellence of the University.

"UPM will always strive to make this green campus a tower of knowledge capable of adapting to current changes and developments with its highly determined community and continuing its explorations of various fields of knowledge, particularly in the agricultural field.”

"I hope UPM staff and students continue to give their utmost commitment in carrying out their responsibilities and in fulfilling the trust given, in line with the objectives of the University as stated in the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025," he said.

This year, the 2021 Putra Akademia Special Award, which is the most prestigious award, was awarded to Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan Salit @ Sinon from the Faculty of Engineering.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan expressed his joy and gratitude towards UPM for the recognition, continuous support, and appreciation given to celebrate the achievements of its academics.

"I am extremely happy and moved because UPM has repeatedly shown appreciation for my efforts since I started my career here. Thank you, UPM," he said.

The 2021 Vice Chancellor Fellowship Award for the Teaching Category (AFNC-KP 2021) was awarded to Dr. Ferdius @ Ferdaus Mohamat Yusuff from the Faculty of Environmental Forestry (applied science group), and Prof. Ts. Dr. Zurina Zainal Abidin from the Faculty of Engineering (engineering cluster) won the Outstanding Teaching category, while the Young Instructor category was awarded to Dr. Nadiya Akmal Baharum from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (Pure Science cluster), Dr. Vivien How from the Faculty of Health Sciences Medicine (Health Sciences cluster), Dr. Mohammad Mujaheed Hassan from the Faculty of Human Ecology (Literature and Social Sciences cluster), and Dr. Evelyn Lim Ai Lin from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Applied Arts and Applied Social Sciences cluster).

Meanwhile, the 2021 Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Award for the Research and Innovation Category (AFNC-KPI) and the outstanding researcher category (Science and Technology cluster) was awarded to Prof. Dr. Syafinaz Amin Nordin from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Prof. Dr. Samsilah Roslan from the Faculty of Educational Studies (Social Science cluster). For the Young Researchers in the Science and Technology cluster category, the award was given to Dr. Mohd Hafiz bin Mohd Zaid from the Faculty of Science and Dr. Cheah Jun Hwa (Science and Technology cluster). As for the Journal Paper Publication Category for the Science and Technology cluster, the award went to Prof. Chm. Dr. Mohd Basyaruddin Abdul Rahma, and for the Product Innovation and Commercialisation category, it was awarded to the late Dr. Maznah Ismail. The Book Publishing category was awarded to Prof. Dr. Jusang Bolong, and the Art and Creativity category was given to Dr. Halis Azhan Mohd Hanafiah.

The Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Award for the 2021 Outstanding Consultant Category (AFNC-KPC) was awarded to Prof. Dr. Rusmawati Said, while the 2021 Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Award for the Student Development Category (AFNC-KPPLJ) was awarded to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amini Amir bin Abdullah, who is also the Principal of the Chancellor College.

The Vice-Chancellor Fellowship Award for the 2021 Professional Services Category (AFNC-KPP) Management & Professional (academic) were awarded to Prof. Dr. Rosnah Shamsudin, Rafiuz Zaman Haroun (non-academic) and administrative officer, Amrina Mohamad Amin.

DYTM Tengku Amir Shah was also pleased to launch the HiStaf System (JINM Scope) and the Industry and Community Management System (ICMS).

This system was developed to ensure the reporting and management of UPM's Industry and Community Relations (JINM) activities, including reports by lecturers with JINM, are more structured, easy, and user-friendly. This effort was carried out to achieve Goal 3 of the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025, which is to sustain the industrial and community network ecosystems. - UPM
