Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)
The Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) for the Bachelor of Science in Timber Industry with Honours (BSTIH) are to produce:
Curriculum Structure
Based on the total student learning hours and notional credit, the minimum graduation requirement is 128 credits, which can be completed within 4 years (8 semesters).
University Courses are compulsory components that students must complete, comprising 12 credits of General Subjects (MPU) and 8 credits of Mandatory University Courses. The total credits required for University Courses is 20.
English language proficiency is also emphasized through the courses LPE2403 Academic Interaction and Presentation (3 credits) and LPE2503 Academic Writing (3 credits), as well as the importance of agriculture in human life through the course PRT2009 Agriculture and Life (2 credits).
Elective Courses for the BSTIH programme offer students the option to either specialize in wood-related fields or integrate other disciplines into the wood industry. Elective courses include advanced wood science courses, upstream forest industry courses, computing, design, business administration and entrepreneurship, life cycle thinking, and occupational and environmental health. These electives aim to enhance students’ competency, promote holistic development, entrepreneurship, and prepare them to face future challenges.
